Life

I am Living!

Our children teach us that Life is worth stopping for, and worth taking notice of. -Bella Bleue

Look up into the sky; see the trees, and smile.

One of the most wonderful gifts in my life is my little boy. He has provided my life with such an amazing joy, and sense of awe. He reminds me to look at the world with wonder and appreciation. He has taught me to embrace a moment for what it is: a moment, and by doing so to find delight in being alive because I am Living.

Look under a bench and discover the earth.

I am Living! This very moment I am alive! I am grateful for this moment no matter what it brings, because I have been given this gift of Life. Bella Bleue

Nature’s Message: Inspiration and Hope are All Around Us

When we take the time to see nature around us, we can learn deep truths about life. I live in the Northeast. The changes in the weather from one day to the next is a complete mystery this year….You never know what the day may bring. This can be true in our life too…we may wake up and expect the day to be one way, and it brings something completely different or unexpected. But when this happens, we have the choice to embrace the opportunity to be inspired by the experience or we can choose to completely miss it. This morning, I looked out my doorstep and saw this image in nature speaking to me.

This image is ironic in some ways. It’s the image of snow embracing a plant that has died for the season, against the backdrop of new life ‘springing forth.’ Walking out my door I could have just seen the snow, and the decaying plant, but instead, the green…the image of inspiration, and HOPE, caught my eye, and thus, changed the way I woke up to my day.

I felt

HOPE: New beginnings are just around the corner, for each of us, if we just open our eyes and take the time to look for them.

INSPIRATION: if nature can break through the winter and live, then we can break through those things that hold us back and LIVE our lives!

My invitation to you:

1.Take some time today to pause and look at life around you.

2. Note what you see.

3. Let yourself feel the inspiration within you.

4. Put the inspiration into your day and see where it leads you.

5. Write down what inspired you and where it lead you.

Blessings on your day,

Bella Bleue

“Healing” Winter Snow

20120229-175348.jpg
My husband walked in the door…”Did you see the snow?” “No!” I hadn’t even realized that it was snowing. That’s the wonder of a winter night. Here I am all warmed up in my house; the curtains are pulled shut; my cat is snoring on the bed beside my computer.

It’s quiet… And yet there is so much going on outside in the world. The white snowflakes are falling quickly, quietly, softly on the earth; changing the sights around, and leaving their mark. No matter how quiet the snow is, we find it. We can touch it and feel it; we can taste it; we can hear it crunch under our feet; we can see how it’s transformed the world and yet it is so quiet when it arrives.

This is what a moment of healing awe is like for me. It’s that profound moment of something unexpected, yet so wonderfully welcomed that it literally transforms something in you and awakens something special. This awakening happened when I threw on my boots, grabbed my camera, called the dog and ran out into the back yard.

“Pause!”

Take in a breath…shhhh….listen do you hear it? The snow is whispering in my ear: ‘I am here.’ Yes something greater than me is here.”

“Stop.”

The dog runs by jumping playfully back and forth around in circles. White snow on his little black nose. And I’m back to reality.

Daily Bleue, Healing, Something Tasty: Baking

Sweet Healing Indulgences

St. Louis Gooey Butter Cake…Yummy! Part of healing our life is to indulge in the yumminess of it! Somehow, when we were created, our Creator knew that we would love to eat! And thus, filled the earth with sugar and sweetness! Yesterday, was my dad’s birthday, so we indulged in home-made Gooey Butter Cake. It was a tradition of sweetness my grandmother introduced to me as a kid. I had forgotten completely about it until about 3 years ago. I was at work and a wonderful co-worker and baker gave me a slice. Its amazing how complex our bodies are: One taste, and I was brought back to being a 6 year old kid sitting at the table eating grandma’s dessert. My father and his family are natives of good o’l Saint Louis, Missouri, where Gooey Butter is famous. Three years ago, I suprised my dad with a tray of gooey butter sent special delivery. He too had forgotten all about it. Now, however, it is an absolute must in family gatherings. My Irish husband and Boston born son, will now also have this dessert as part of their heritage story.

To make St. Louis Gooey Butter:

Ingredients

  • 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups confectioners’ sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. Mix cake mix, melted butter or margarine, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 2 eggs with a spoon. Pat into a 9 X 13 inch pan.
  3. Mix cream cheese, 2 eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla with an electric mixer. Slowly beat in confectioner’s sugar. Pour over cake layer.
  4. Bake for 40 to 45 minutes. Cool.

Do something fun for yourself too! Find a pretty plate or display item and present your sweet indulgence.  Taking the time to present your food, allows you to dip into your imagination. Imagination nourishes you, and continues to bring healing and happiness into your whole being.

Be blessed with your ‘Sweet Healing Indulgences’

Blessings, Erin
