It is quite amazing how being creative allows you to heal. It re-centers your mind, and gives your emotions an outlet–a place to go outside of yourself, in a healthy way. Creativity also brings you closer to the Sacred–it connects you to that deeper spirit within yourself, the spirit of love that dwells within you, and connects you to the Divine or that which you call Sacred.
Since the spring weather arrived here in the Northeast, it has become more and more difficult for me to sit down and be creative. My son is 3 1/2 and needless to say, everything in life is exciting, and three-fourths of it happens outside. So by the time I get some time alone to write, I am too tired. But today, I found some time to be creative and played around with my photos, Photoshop and my love for words and created something for you. So I feel better…
The Earth Sings a Song of Beauty The music it plays echos through the voices of Birds Tu-La Life is beautiful today… Do you see the newness all around? Mother Nature gives birth to bursts of colour And the earth smiles at the breaths of Life that the green leaves of the trees Sing Woosh…Swoosh…
Thank you for your beautiful beauty, For the light that shines through your very being Thank you for your wisdom For your inner strength that propels life forward because you touch this world with the gift of you.
Thank you for all that you are and all you are yet to become.
What pleases you in life? What makes you feel happy right at this moment?
I have discovered my passion for photography this year. It has brought me incessant joy, and ongoing discoveries of life. It has helped me embrace the intricacies of life, that otherwise, I might have missed. And through each photo I take, I am encouraged to celebrate and feel within my spirit a deep sense of wonder…a gift each and every one of us possesses.
How do you tap into the gift of wonder in your life?
This journey of embracing and nurturing my passion for art and photography, has also deepened my faith. I have always believed in a benevolent creator, I call God, and seeing the wonder of life through my lens, has deeply affirmed my knowing of the Creator. It is so difficult for me to believe that someone or something did not create all this wonder in the world. Involving myself so effortlessly with nature, fills my body with a sense of deep connection beyond myself and within myself. This feeling of transcendence is so natural and unforced that it can’t just be something of chance, I believe. We all may have different ways of understanding this feeling of transcendence, but for me it is a definitive relating to the Divine.
How do you make sense of your moments of transcendent connection through the tangible and visual world?
[During my time of refection, I have discovered within myself, that I need to express more openly my experience of relating to the Divine--God. This relationship is a part of my everyday life, and so central to how I live my life and make sense of who we are---living miracles. My writings my messages and images all stem forth from my belief that each and every one of us is deeply loved by God through this amazing gift of life that each of us lives. This is a relationship I believe we all have in some shape or form...it is the relationship of yourself to that which allows transcendence to be felt within your spirit....however you name it; i.e. your spirituality. Thus, I will begin to share a bit more about spirituality here, and hope that through my sharing, you will be invited to share your faith journey, or look more deeply at what your spirituality means for you].
Lately, I’ve been needing to remind myself that some of the turns and twists that I am faced with in life, are not just to fault me, or disrupt my feeling of balance. But these twists and turns are an invitation to discover something else about myself…
How do you make sense of unexpected disruptions in your life?
Children running around at a city fountain. Laughter everywhere. Cameras flashing. Water spraying. Horns honking. Music playing in the air.
I am always awe-struck at how much I learn about myself, and what it means to be human when I’m watching my son run around and play. I think part of the reason we were made, is to simply have fun. There’s something very invigorating and inviting about being spontaneously playful—like running through a fountain just because it’s there. This playfulness seems to awaken our bodies and fill them with life. Maybe it’s the surge of energy running through our veins, or the positive endorphins that ignite playful cheer in our cells that makes us feel alive. But I’d like to think it’s more simple than all that: You feel alive because being playful is a part of what makes you fully human!
This is a good reminder that life needs to be fun..and to get there, you should return to the roots of your early days. Return to the freedom of being a child; return to the spontaneity and worry-free mind-state of your younger self—the one who sees splashing water as an invitation for being playful, for laughing, and for freeing your spirit.
Let go of the worry, the responsibility, and the pressure you put on yourself to be a certain way, and instead just be.
Be free.
Be human.
Be YOU.
And run through a sprinkler…
Sometimes we need to be like a little child and soak up the world with a silent wonder in our hearts the kind of wonder that makes us pause long enough to receive life with a feeling of awe of how deeply connected we are to this immense and powerfully soothing natural world with every ounce of our very being.
As we celebrate Father’s Day, a day to celebrate good men in our lives who guide us, may each and every one of us be reminded of the amazing individuals we are. We all have been given gifts that we are to share with each other, so that transformation and growth can happen in the lives of those we meet, and within ourselves.
